Just got done doing a wheel swap for a friend of mine.. He had some sick fugly Ultima spoke wheels on there That just didn't do it any justice especially because this guy doesn't know how to keep his bike clean, they rusted the ****.. sometimes I hate doing work for people like this because I know it's just going to go to **** again But anyways it looks good right now and I was actually happy with the outcome.. Also did new bearings and new tires... Took a little test drive on it and I got to tell you man these things cruise pretty nice at 90 mph.. You don't even feel it... Not that I'm ever going to get a Road King but man it felt good....
And you thought cleaning spokes was a pain in the azz. My RK came with those knuckles and within a year I had replaced them with a set of Airstrikes off a Road Glide.
I was surprised at the handling improvement of my RK when I replaced my spoke wheels with a set of cast wheels.
I'm sure they are..
Not being the owner, I have no idea if there is a difference and most all my other bikes were always Aluminum rims.. CNC or Cast....
I got rid of those knuckle wheels on my '13 King. The front's were a PIA to air up as the air valve is in between the knuckles. I wised up quick and got one of these. Now I have the fat spoke wheels.
SMH running 90 on mismatched tires and the front being Chinese junk to boot.
during the covid supply shut down, i couldn't get a set of matched tires to save my life... and it wasn't just a matter of buying the rear from x and the front from y, they were all out of the same tires! ended up with a set of shinko 777. put those on, and a couple of months later, did a road trip from la to va. ran 90-95 for a large part of the way. had absolutely no problems with the tires. rode smooth, and stable the whole way. have about 7k on them now and still have good tread left.
whens these wear out, i'll be replacing them with avon cobra chrome. not because i don't like these tires, but i really liked the avons i had before. but, if i had to, i wouldn't hesitate to run the shinkos again.
