Thanks guys. I’ll be keeping an eye on oil going forward. And yes I’ll check cars too

Woke up at 4AM. Funny how I feel sleepy on work days but wide awake at 4 AM on the day of the ride.

My buddy has a service appointment for his Can Am in Spokane. So tagging along with him and get my GTS flashed too.

I get to go to dealership once a year, so will test ride new bikes and buy some goodies for my old horse.

You have a 2024, my guess is that you are a very very happy owner.

Also check your oil after the bike has run if it has been sitting for 3 or 4 days, as the oil will sometimes "sump" meaning that some of the oil will drain down into the engine and give you a false reading, just something else to worry about .

You have to check your engine oil on a regular basis as it uses or burns off oil continuously. My '21 RK uses 250ml every 1000 miles. My '18 Ultra would use 500ml every 1000 miles. It just makes good sense to check that dipstick every week.

My 2017 uses a quart about every 5,000 miles… had the migration issue at about 25,000 or so miles…got it fixed… No problems with that since …

I checked the levels about every second fill up…

If both are in stock form you will see a big difference
Mine were trike, 2014 with the 103HO and now a 2021 with the 114”.

It varies by motorcycle IMO. My '00 95" Road Glide never used oil between 5,000 mi services, all the way to 172,000 miles, but I still took a look/see every 1500 or so.
Get to know how yours uses oil. (Based upon your apparent consumption, check at least every 1,000 miles, and get ready to dump a quart in there.)

(If a Harley runs bone dry, the lifters collapse and there's way more racket than a tick tick tick....You apparently didn't get that far)

I installed a stage 4 to my 14 RK a couple years ago, a guy with experience was suppose to help me but backed out after I had it all tore apart, I documented this if you search DIY Stage 4, Later that year drove to Sturgis, never checked the oil, After I returned home, drove it around some more, never checking the oil, then one day I made a turn in a parking lot and heard a little squeel for a second. I checked my oil and none on the dipstick. I eased it home and filled it up and did what most of us would do. Strip it down of all the aftermarket stuff and trade it into the dealer. Got me a 22 SGS now. LOL

Keep an eye on it. It's probably a long way from worn out if you keep good oil in it and full.
don't do this. most bikes don't like to be 'topped off' and will puke the excess oil out via the air cleaner until it reaches it's 'comfort' level. for most, that level is right about halfway on the dipstick. remember, as long as the oil is between the 'full' and 'add' marks, you're fine. you aren't low until it gets below the 'add' line. to be safe, and to make yourself comfortable, if you are getting below the halfway point on the dipstick, you can add a little to bring it up.
