Another vote for the Quadlock.

If I bought another one, I’d buy the self charging model.

If it holds your phone and works, there's no wrong choice.

RAM X mount - I did the X grip thing. Dropped a phone out of it. 99% of the time it worked great, but one time it didn't.

Quadlock - I had Quadlock. Never again. Not a bad design, but all plastic that deformed over time and dropped my phone onto the highway.

Rokform - Best materials used and has not dropped a phone yet. In my crash it held my phone safe and was easily located because it was with the bike. The mount was destroyed. Here's the best part. I emailed them about the crash and sent photos. No questions asked, they shipped out a brand new mount with the damper and cell phone case for my new phone. Customer service was as good as Custom Dynamics is around here.

Having done both, I prefer the bar clamp mount. The perch mount is clean, but has the potential to strip the mounting holes, which is a costly repair. Bar mount feels more sturdy and is just as unobtrusive to use.

I’m leaning that way too. I’m trying to see where I can clamp it on the 24. The new controls take up so much of the bar and the brake hose is tight against the bar.

By perch mount you mean on the handlebar controls, right?
If that's exactly where you want the phone, fine. If it's not, there's not really any adjustment to be had or made.
They also seems to screw up tension on the mounting of the handlebar control unit itself.

Ah, perch mount ram ball. OK, that'll work for adjustment and I've done it before.

I'll still stand by my words about weirdness with tightening the whole thing up. Seems like the way everything compresses negates some of the positive tightening of the lever on the handlebar. Not the end of the world, just meant the lever was a little more able to slide around the handlebar.
