Bike Shutting Off While Riding
Had an issue today with my 2011 FLHTK shutting off while going down the road, This has never hapend before and I am wanting to know where to start looking to find the cause of this problem.
Here is what happened :
I have been riding bike into work as usual with no issues, but the last couple of days we have seen temps in the mid 90's. Today after sitting in the sun for about 8 hrs. I got about 10 miles down the road and the bike just shut off , I was running 60 MPH in 6th gear with the cruise control on like I normally do and just lost power to the bike. Radio , cruise control light, 6th gear lite, all dead with motor not running. I put it in neutral but no "N" indicator lite came on. It did let me put the flashers on and I costed to a safe place to pull over. I then turned the ignition switch off and just sat there for 5 minutes . when I turned the ignition switch back on everything powered up as normal and the bike started as usual. I adjusted the vents on the faring to get air flow over the engine and ran the bike as normal for 20 miles till I hit my driveway.
and Ideas of what might have happend and where to look ? The bike is a 2011 Ultra Classic with the 103 and 65k miles.
Many Thanks,
Check codes?
What is interesting is lights go out, so that is more than ignition system cutting out. That makes me think maybe loose connection.
