@pyuchem

My advice to you is to make sure you do not, under any circumstances, follow any advice that this pretender barfs up.

Tools ... All have some tools ... Some have all the tools ... The sum of some people's tools is staggering ... I'm one of them :<(

I totally get what rounders is saying. There are times even I feel like I should learn how to do this basic stuff. I even did my first oil change last year with a help of my friend. He’s like Hattitude, does all his maintenance by himself. And also offers to help me out with my bike.

May be one of these days I’ll do easy things instead of going to the dealer. Thankfully between my job, rentals and investments I make enough to pay for my hobbies. So I don’t mind paying someone to help me.

It’s funny that you say Red Foreman, that was my first TV show I used to watch when I first came to US. I learned to speak English watching that show. I used to write words that I couldn’t understand, look in the dictionary and try to use it in a sentence. I spent many years watching that and other shows learning how to speak English. I still remember I used to be surrounded by books, news clippings and dictionary for years trying to learn.

I had a friend who decided he wanted to be more involved in the maintenance of his new car... He asked me to show him how to check the oil..

About four months later he called me from a gas station pay phone (this was before cell phones). He told me he checked his oil and he was down quart. Now he wanted to know how.where to put the new oil in....

We all got to start somewhere at sometime in our lives....

Luckily when I was 7 years old, our neighbor Nick Russi, taught me how to change spark plugs in a car (he did most the work).... I was hooked!!! I used to help him and my Dad work on cars ever since then...

It's not about money. Sometimes it is quicker than back and forth to dealer. This shop is 150 miles away.

I do think you should have a modest tool set in the house. Even if you never use it.

Got a call from my Indy. My bike is ready for pick up. He said rocker box cover was warped and that caused the leak. When he first installed , he did not look at it.

Anyway looking forward to put some miles before snow gets here.

I’ll go pick it up tomorrow. Weather looks like high 50 and low 30 cloudy. Try to start early morning so I can ride back before dark.

He said couldn’t do a test ride because it’s raining but he let the bike run for an hour in the shop with a fan ON. Not sure if that’s ok ?

Spring project install Pro Action fork kit, replace both tensioners and may be do stage I.

Don’t feel bad about taking your bike to the dealer or some other reputable shop. Over the years I have seen several Hell’s Angel bikes at the dealer for service or upgrades.

With air moving over the engine, it shouldn't be a problem...

Glad you got it fixed.

I have never encountered a warped rocker cover... I have, however, read about numerous warped rocker covers...

I am surprised at how often I have read about it.. But then again, if someone can mess up a rocker cover, I would bet on the MoCo to pull it off...
