Im here at the dealer for 70k service. I was just informed that one of the pistons has crack on it. Its from outside in halfway across. Dang it.
2016 FLHXS. 70,000 miles.
Initial quote of $1800.
Well .dang it.
Compression test : 180 front cylinder and 120 rear.
Rear has the crack.
Hell of a good service department if they scope the cylinders during a service, now that is a full service if you ask me.
Good that it was caught before it destroyed the lower end and valves by fragmenting.
Curious how they caught it. MDo they normall do a compression check or look at the top of piston?

My bike was burning oil so I had asked them to check spark plugs and put a scope to see whats going on in there.
I doubt they would have done that during regular service.
I would check out all your options before committing to the dealer. Talk to some Indy's as well. Get a detailed estimate for both parts and labor. With your mileage you should have the lifters, cam chain tensioner and crank run out checked as well.
