I can't imagine being able to even load a bike on trailer, if you are the type of guy without a simple set of tools
The choices someone makes are not my business if they don't affect me.

Rather than criticize him, I have often offered him suggestions and help.

I'll have to respectfully disagree with Rounders... (phew, a couple days ago I agreed with him and it scared me)

IMHO.... If someone wants to ride, but doesn't want to bother with the maintenance & repairs, I see no problem in using a good shop instead of getting their hands dirty.

I have a little 360 sq ft garage next to my house with my 4 Harleys and several tool boxes surrounding a lift table. I do all my own work. I do it because I enjoy it, and because if I had to pay a shop for all my maintenance and mods, I would be broke....

In my early years, with older shovel heads and with much less disposable income, I had to learn to fix my bikes just to afford one Harley. They were also much simpler to diagnose and repair. I have fixed several issues on the old bikes in parking lots or on a roadside.

I still carry a small tool kit in my bikes to this day, but... these newer bikes are not like the old bikes. They are much more complicated and have far more electronics than the bikes of old. There is less and less stuff you fix on the side of a roadway to get the bike back in service if it dies...

We recently had a bike develop a problem on a ride with some friend's. It still had to be towed to his house, before we could fix it. Couldn't do it on the side of the road.

Tow it home, or tow it to a shop... The important thing is to get your face into the wind and ride!

Some people own the tool.
Some people are the tool.

Still a myth. Fuel burns, the more fuel you burn the hotter it gets. Simple as this.

What DOES matter is exhaust timing - whether hot gas is held longer in the cylinder, heating it up, or whether it's exhausted. And changes in timing requires changes in AFR, but lower AFR by itself only causes heating (as long as all fuel is burnt, but if it isn't you'd know from the exhaust pops).

That is what I have done. I am teaching him to fish. What are you doing actually? I described in simple terms what to try.

e!
i am not disagreeing. But I think it violates the man card not to atleast have simple set of tools in the garage. I am somewhat serious if you don't own a wrench, you probably should not leave home on a motorcycle. Especially not one with a few miles on it. Maybe if you want to trade it in every year or two. But he he has semi higher mileage bikes, if I recall. he should sell them. Stay with a brand new bike.

It might say something about society, that tool became an insult. I have no problem being insulted by a description that says I work. So I hope that was meant for me.

If he ordered something on Amazon prime it can be there to tomorrow, and he can shove his man card down my throat.

Everyone is AFU but you...

Have you not noticed that you are always at odds with every other poster?

Never mind, of course you do, you are only here to disrupt and call attention to yourself.

Don't reply to me? How many posts have you generated by doing this?

You want to insult me, but don't think I will reply?

Not sure AFU means, so if it is an insult, it is lost on me. I don't keep up with all the lingo the kids use these days.

Your efforts to deflect responsibility for derailing this thread are only lost on those who’s brain matter has turned to mush.
