Why do "they" have to correct it? I thought the purpose of the TMax was it corrects itself? What am I missing here ?

I don't get that either, there really is nothing a dyno tune can do except for play with the timing charts. Let the system do the AFR tuning itself, it does it as you ride..............so the more riding you do the quicker it will tune itself. Once the AFR is done by the system, then you can start to listen for pinging and adjust the timing charts as needed to eliminate it.

I'm loving my DTT system...............best $$ I've spent on the bike, and I will never have to waste any money on a dyno tune by an "expert".

What is involved with these timing charts?.....Is it comparable to PCIII or easier to set up the timing?
It still sounds like youneed a dyno run with this system just to be sure all is functioning properly.
How else would he have known he wasn't running as well as he should be if not for the dyno run?

Neither DTT nor Tmax autotune for ignition timing so they need a map for ignition timing. And if you want to get the most out of the engine, you need to find the optimum timing; typically this would be to advance timing for each cylinder until it pings then retard the timing 3 degrees from that point for the numerous rpm, tp, and map loads. That's one of the elements of a good dyno tune.

Since the DTT does not record knock activity (that record function isproprietary to Delphi), Steve (MUC) listens for pinging then notes therpm/throttle position so the timing can be retarded to eliminate it--and if I am mistaken I hope Steve will correct me.

Also, and I may be mistaken here since I have no first hand knowledge of Tmax and haven't read the user's manual, the owner has to contact Zippers to make certain adjustments to timing. Again, if I am mistaken, I am sure I will be quickly corrected. It's probably the timing adjustments that Abnmarine's tuner was interested in trying that required contacting Zippers.

Right, that's all there is to it..............the timing chart is very easy to understand and is very similar to the PC one.

Now that my system as tuned the AFR, it's up to me to adjust the timing chart to rid any pinging. So while I'm riding I pay attention to any pinging that may occur and just remember that, then when I get home I hook up the laptop to the DTT and make some adjustments. Next time out, I do the samething .............it's really not a big deal at all and is the samething I was doing with the PC only now I know for sure that the AFR is correct and it's just the timing I have to play with.

My scanner isn't working right now. My torque drops 10#'s from 3400-3800 rpms and then remains flat at 108. My hp dips about 5hp in these same rpms. I wouldn't have known this just from riding as it feels fine. I only have 300 miles on the map and tomorrow will do some datalogging to make a few adjustments. As stated before, the dyno was mainly for me to see what #'s I make.

I'm on a crappy computer but it looks like you have 2-1's ... a torque dip as you describe is typical of those. On SuperTrapp 2-1's we put more disks in to help tune that out. A possibility for you?

That is a known characteristic of the Fatcat exhaust, look at any other dyno chart with the Fatcat and you will see a dip right around 3500 rpm. Maybe not 10 ft.lbs, but there will still be a dip. No amount of tuning will take that out, it's the exhaust that causes that.

Ab,
I would put more miles on and work on that range your seeing the drop. Add in some timing until it pings then back off 2-3 degrees. Then ride the crap out of it and enjoy.
After I get my tuning (DTT) where I like it I'll through my build on the Dyno to see where I'm at.....

That's my plan for today. I spent a good portion of last night reading various posts regarding the Tmax and it's settings. I'll tune it myself and someday throw it on a dyno again to see what she pulls. Thanks.
