The way people drive in the city these days? Talking on cell phones, can't stay in their lane, drive like their drag racing from stoplight to stoplight, tailgating at highway speeds, and just too friggin many of em...Hell no - unless you're working in a rural environment. Screw motorcycling in the the city.

I think it depends on the city. It doesn’t bother me a bit to ride all over Charlotte, Denver, or even Toronto. Having said that, I won’t ride through Oakland, Boston, or Miami any more.

We don't know anything about his commute.

Commute just means driving to work, I think it implies some distance, that is up for interpretation

and, he doesn't want saddlebags or a windshield, yet everyone tries to tell him to ride with bags!

Since he did not give anyone a clue about his commute, distance, traffic, what he does or how he needs to dress or what tools he needs, we can only respond to his open question with our own experiences on our commutes. It’s no different than, what seat do you need, what oil do you use, which pipes are best. But it’s snowing, we are bored, so these open ended questions resonate with us as it helps to prevent PMS.

Mine is my daily driver. I have a Jeep that I (ab)use on trails or when the weather's going to be awful, but days like today when it's just raining and cold, I'm on the bike. That said, I'm not a long commuter, I put around 15,000 miles a year on the bike as I don't have the luxury of going on nice trips any more. Being a bigger guy myself, the touring frame is perfect for around town. Lots of room for groceries etc and if you can slow-ride and safely maneuver a big bike, they are very comfortable.

I get the impression his commute is not much, he said was a waste taking his auto, I believe. But commuting a bike. Is more expensive. Do it cause you like it,or by some old jap bike maybe, one step up from scooter.

I get impression he needs motor he just straps lunch pale on seat.

I get pression not far, since doesn't want windshield.

I think he just thinks because he is big guy shy buy big bike

If you want a project try making FLH look good with out bags.

Maybe some leather bags would be more your style. I think some big soft leather bags would look cool and hide the back end.

My big *** sits on my big *** bike to work most days……weather permitting.
It’s what makes having to go to work more tolerable.
Yep, there is an endless onslaught of a-hole & shitty drivers threatening to take me out along the way.
I do my best to avoid them and my Odin gremlin bell seems to keep them away from me…….so far.
The main reason I’ll continue to ride to work is the fact I love to ride ….. I’ll take my chances.
Ive been doing it for 45+ years without much trouble (knock on wood) so I aint stopping till I cant ride no more!
