As I understand, (from the service mgr at my dealership) you can change either the exhaust or the air intake without a tune. If you're changing both, a tune is required.
I wasn't crazy about the look of the stock mufflers on my 2020 RGL either. Look for a set of CVO "take-off" mufflers. That's what I have ended up with.
Similar sound to stock...maybe a bit more "throaty". There's plenty for sale on eBay, etc. (or on the Forum Marketplace here) at very reasonable prices. Think I paid less than $200 for the set and they looked like new.

Yeah I forgot about those CVO take off mufflers, and I have a set in my basement! I think I paid less than $200 for them on Ebay and they looked like brand new.
Basically the same as stock but with a different look that some may like better.
I just got a new 2024 ultra limited. I am happy with the performance and honestly with the sound too, but I dont really like the looks of the stock mufflers. Has anyone put slip ons on their 2024 ultra limited without changing exhaust or fuel management? I know some people say not to do that, but I am just wanting to know from someone who has actually done it.
Can you? Sure. Should you? Debatable. Harley wisdom dictates that stock bikes be tuned because they leave the factory tuned for EPA requirements rather than power, cool running, and/or longevity. A mild canned tune should probably be everyone's first mod; it's certainly encouraged.
