Ignition switch screw up
Scott
PS Just FYI, today, when I initially took it off, I put the key in, turned it to the far left, pushed the button on the bottom side, turned it to ACC and it pulled out, no problems. Apparently, from this afternoon to now, something seems to have changed without me being notified.
(99 Flhtpi) So I replaced my ignition switch housing. For anyone with a higher percentage of cluelessness like myself, it was the part under the chrome thingy where you put the key. Everything went well, I put things loosely together to try it out and the bike started etc.- great. Now, it's time to take the chrome thingy off, tighten things up, put the low fairing piece on and...nope, not happening. Now I can't get the chrome key thingy off. I have no idea how to get it off or if I completely screwed myself beyond all recognition. All I could do is unhook the wires, take it all off, and bring it in the house so I could sit and stare at it. Thanks in advance and if anyone needs something screwed up that normally can not be screwed up - let me know, I'm your man.

Forgive me, but I am unfamiliar with the Police Bikes of that year. The online parts finder shows two possible ignition switch types.
Since I don't understand your terminology... For clarification for me, and other forum members..
In the parts pic below. Are you talking about "ignition switch ****" like #42/#49 or are you dealing with "ignition switch ****" like #10/#21....? I suspect you are talking about #10/#21..
Someone will undoubtably understand your dilemma, but clarification will help the rest of us...
