Last Chance (Homestead), Alabama Jacks (Card Sound), Hog Heaven (Isla Morada), and Hog's Breath Inn (Key West)are all great places to stop and grab a bite and/or a drink.
Be sure to drink lot's of water and wear sunscreen!
Key West is great. DO NOT do the Tortogo(sp) trip out of KW unless your a former Navy guy. Never seen that many people vomit before. It's rough seas the whole 2 1/2 hours (one way). Lots to see and do in KW but I would say it is the most boring ride I've ever been on. It'slong and slow. State police patrol the keys.

My wife and I go at least twice each year and love it. One thing you must do is have breakfast at Blue Heaven. It is at the corner of Thomas and Petronia Streets in the Bahamian Village. Have the lobster benedict. Trust me on this one. They also have fresh-baked banana bread. We also like the Dungeness crab at Crabby Dick's. A&B Lobster House is very nice if you want a little more upscale dinner.
Not sure what you have for time, but if you want to get out on the water, try the "Island Ting" from Seabago Sports (booths are everywhere). They take you out on a catamaran to the reef for snorkeling and then over to a mangrove island for a kayak tour. It is a six hour trip altogether and they serve you breakfast, snack and lunch. The food is better than you would expect. It is by far the best bargain there. We also like to take the waverunner tour around the islands. That is a lot of fun.
Hog's Breath is a little over-rated, IMHO. The last time we were there they wanted to charge me $10 to park in an empty motorcycle lot in the middle of tropical rainstorm. They are NOT about the bikers.

He's right, don't take the boat to the Dry Tortuga National Park, take the float-plane. You won't get seasick, you will have the right amount of see/do time on the island, and will get to see the shipwrecks from the air -a must-see experience!
And if you have time, take the Sombrero Reef snorkeling trip out of Marathon. A lot more fun than just swimming off Bahia Honda if you're into snorkeling.
on the way down jump off 95 as you just get into Florida, head to 17 and then onto A1A in Fernandina Beach ride along the ocean south take the ferry accross to Jax Beach and continue on A1A to Daytona and then onto US 1 to Fort Pierce. After that cruise the highway until you get to the overseas highway and enjoy. Leave time for Alabama Jacks on Card Sound and the Tiki bar in Islamorada. Then south from there its a really nice ride. Enjoy!
You;re right about the $10 parking, but that ain't Hog's Breathe lot. It belongs to the bank next door.
I'll take Capt Tony's over the rest of em if I'm looking for a cold one.
If you're into scuba diving go with Captain's Corner located in front of the Conch Republic Seafood Resturant (my favorite food place). TellLeslie you're with "The Castaways Crew" and you'll get a few bucks off.
It'll be nice when the last three Key Deer are dead then the speed limits can be raised.

Is 3 all there is left? WoW! Maybe we should stuff the dead ones and hang them from the bridge gates so everyone who gets stuck there waiting will have something to do like Wildlife Education. Maybe it would give some thought to what we are doing here. I am sorry that this happened. Glad I am not a Key Deer!
