A week ago I did a group ride. We put on about 200 miles. Stopped in the middle for lunch.
We were pretty high-speed, most of the way probably 70+.
The last 15 miles on my way home the engine seemed like it was working twice as hard.
Taking off from a stop at lower rpm's, It just seemed like the engine was working really hard.
I babyed it the rest of the way, home staying under 50mph.
Ideas?
Here in SoCal, if you aren't 70+mph almost anytime you get on a freeway (outside of rush hour traffic) you'll get run over. Especially on the inland freeways...
The description you give, sounds like it could be a fuel restriction issue. Fuel filter suggestion sounds like a good thing to check... Do you have access to a fuel pressure gauge to check the fuel pressure at the tank valve?
However, it could be so many things... Any codes?

Thank you, that is what I was thinking as well. Here in Texas, we like to slow down a bit on our back country roads and enjoy. We just speed to get to those, lol
Thank you. I was thinking the same thing. I will post what the filter looks like when I get the new filter. I just wish this was an easier fix, lol
Not a hard job, the only trouble I had was with part #4. That clip was a PITA to get out and put back in. Once you get the filter unit out, put a shop towel under it so as not to drop any parts in the tank. Also best to run the tank down as empty as possible.
