Looking to go back to a True Dual Set-up on the '07 Roady and have been looking for "HEADERS ONLY"
I like the look on the SAMSON over then others as it looks like there right pipe goes straight back without the curve up @ the passanger floorboard and was wondering if ANYONE HERE has put on these SAMSOM HEADERS on there dresser???
Best quality true dual out there are the V&H Dresser duals. V&H craftsmanship is 2nd to none. Go with quality for that sweeeeeet looking Glide. Nice sigpic too!
This doesn't answer the gentleman with the initial question on the Samson header system but, I had considered the Dresser Duals myself and thanread somewhere that without the crossover pipe you sacrifice performance.Your observations please.
I am not running the Samson system, but my older brother is on his 2003 Road King. Just did the install 2-3 weeks ago. He is very pleased with the system (he is also running V&H Basic Slip-ons). He did mention 2 things:
1 - His bike is now quieter at idle and cruising with the Samson system vs. the stock system. Not a bad kind of quieter, but really better sounding. We are assuming that now both mufflers are seeing relatively equal amounts of exhaust gases, where before the right side saw the majority. Under load (going up hills, etc.) the new system lets you know it is there.
2 - His fuel mileage dropped about 2 miles per gallon. Not sure why but I think part of it is him "listening" to how the new system sounds when he twists the throttle!!!
i am thinking of going with the samsons as well and was told by a harley tech that the samson offered the best preformance for the money i originaly was thinking bassini but he told me that the "power curve" on the bassini would slow the flow of exhaust so my money is going with sampson he did say you would loose low end torque but would gain on the top end but with the hp i have i dont think there will be any probs with the low end

Was that tech just back from smoking his break? The Bassani headers are equal length headers, meaning even flow from both heads making it better for tuning. I can tell you from experience, that "curve" adds some heat to the right side and makes it a pain to check the oil.
Sorry, can't speak about the Samson headers except to say that they look nice.
