I purchased a set of Sage Brush engine guard chaps. Rode with them from Oct- May and loved them. The nice thing is they have some nice options including a cut out if you have HD fog lamps. The other nice thing is the opening for highway pegs is muh better then the HD ones or desert dawgs. Tight fit but open for where ever your pegs are.
Your going to feel allitle more resistance at highway speeds because of the airflow, but I never felt additional buffeting on my chest or head. I too leave them in the saddlebags for inclement weather.
Yeah I really like the look of the Airlite covers. Doesn't get too cold here in Southern California, but the mornings are chilly in the low 50's so these will help on the long ride into work in the mornings! Thanks.
I put mine on today, 40 deg. keeps the cold off the legs and re-directs some eng. heat to your legs, works great. Like you said I feel like a bobble head from the extra wind coming over the top of them. Don't like the extra wind.
HD soft lowers are about 40 bucks, add the fork air baffle to keep the air from sneaking up the back side of the fairing/front of the tank and you are good to 20 degrees. Don't ask how I know this.
Does the forkair baffles make that big of difference?
Yes, I do have engine guard pegs. No, the wind was the same no mater my foot position. I stoped an pick up the fork baffle and have already installed, after the 1/4-20 tap and withthe bluethreadlock. Would have checked it out but I live in an area that we have light piped in and the deer are all over the place this time of year. I willkeep you updated after the ride. By the way the airlite chaps are first quality if I can justget this extra wind under control.

I have the airlites, and they are great! I have no weird wind from them, but I do run the fork baffle, the fork deflectors, and the fairing wings. They have 2 nice big pockets in the as well, great for my heavy cold weather gloves. Easy on and off, but when they are cold, they a a little more challenging to stretch on.
