The mount a previous poster posted a linc to at Dennis Kirk is the same one I have and ITS PERFECT. No movement at highway speeds in the 15 years it's been on my 2015 Ultra Limited luggage rack bars.
BUT....it's not an Amazon $39 item.....it's twice the price at $66 ......BUT as I wrote: "you get what you pay for".
Don't drill anything, just buy the better one and return the one you have.
There’s a company out there that makes a great product, where the flagpole mounts into the base with a set screw. They back it up with great service too. I have one, but I can’t remember the name of the company. I’m surprised nobody has mentioned it yet..
Yup, I missed that link up there ^. Pro Pad, that’s the one I have too..great product. They used to have their own website and phone number, and they would actually answer the phone when you called! Looks like they might be out of business
Yep...."Pro Pad"....is the best. They won't move once attached. But as I wrote they're NOT the less expensive $39.99 Amazon ones....and as you already know this is one case when "you get what you pay for".
Thanks for the input, guys. I am going to drill it and put a bolt through the pole. I have seen tons on the interweb but was curious if someone had found a set that the pole does not unscrew at highway speeds. Should be an easy fix. It's oil change time anyway. May as well add that to the list.
Update....
I was going to drill it but the top of it where I would drill is conical and I will make a mess of it... Looking into the Dennis Kirk site you all mentioned and hopefully they still make them. Thanks again for all the input.
How did you fit it on the rear luggage rack?
I had to take that metal bushing out and then open up the hole a little bit with my Mill.
I have the Blue police version of the American flag.
The "Pro Pad" base is 2 pieces, held together around the luggage rack bar with 2 small set screws (tiny wrench supplied). Then the flag pole portion is held in the base by another small set screw. As easy and simple as it gets. You'll see when you buy the it.
