Default Primary drain plug - is this consider excessive metal shaving?

Ju

My first Harley, 2022 street glide special bought from private party, 4600 miles, did 3 hole today. Tranny plug and oil plug looks normal, but primary plug seems a little bit messy as shown. Bike shifts pretty smoothly, no issue finding neutral. Is this condition considered normal? Thanks!

Welcome to the HDFORUM.

I usually have seen thin hair-like mostly on primary and transmission ever change. Had 50 K on it when I parked it.

Is that the first change on the bike?

Pretty sure it was not the first ever change but could be the 1st 3-hole change. this is the primary plug. thanks for your reply!

I'd say its not excessive for the primary, especially with that few of miles. Don't worry about it. Put in clean fluid and see what it looks like next time.

Mine generally looks like that. Between the compensator and that huge chain, there will be some shavings.

Run it.

I’ve been known to overfill mine a bit after an oil change, leave plug wires off, spin it over, drain, refill to proper level and ride. Gives it a bit of a flush/rinse.

My open primaries get some brake clean and a fresh spray of drive chain lube on them and keep rolling.

The quick answer.
No that is NOT a lot for a primary.
The magnet is intended to capture those hair like metal shavings.
I would clean the plug and review the threads on that plug since it appears to have something, perhaps thread locker or sealant on threads.

Post was a little difficult to understand...
I understand 2022 street glide special.
Purchased from private party.
How many miles on the bike? 4,600 miles TOTAL or you have ridden the bike 4,600 miles in addition to the original mileage.
