Got ride of all the wiring and funky underlights. I hate unnecessary wiring. Gave her a cleaning. Scrubbed a bunch of chrome with aluminum foil and now she shines.
I went to change the exhaust, but the exhaust flanges are rusted and nasty, so I ordered two new ones and I will change the exhaust when they come in. Checked the air cleaner and it was nasty with oil and dirt. I went on K&N’s website and they have their air intake setup that uses the stock air cleaner cover on sale, so I went ahead and bought one. I like the HD oval cleaner with the orange 103 writing I have and want to keep it.
I am very interested to ride her after I put the other pipes on and the new air cleaner set up. She should breathe much better.
Changed the pipes out to the SE slip ons after cleaning them up real good. Sounds much, much better! Deep and throaty with a nice growl but not ear splitting sharp noises. Also, changed all three oils and filter. Didnt get to ride it as it started pouring rain right as I finished up, but ran it for a bit to verify pressure and check for leaks.
Still need to bleed the front brakes after I rebuild the master cylinder. Just ran out of time yesterday.
Messed with it some more. 4 way flashers work, they just take a little more finesse to turn on than I thought. Now, I am removing a crap load of shitty under lights that look like a 2 year old installed them.
Also used the procedure in the FSM to change the PIN. Since I only have one fob that was important to me. Once I get the title in my name I will take a joy ride to a HD dealer and get a new FOB and another key.
Also has a nice surprise. I took what were supposed to be the original OEM slip ons out of the bag they were in. Turns out they are H.D. 80848-10 Screamin Eagle slip ons. These are supposedly developed by Super Trapp. They need a lot of cosmetic love, but all the parts are there. I will be cleaning them up and putting them on the bike to replace the obnoxious ones on there now.
yeah little quirky on those flashers... I have to hold both at same time for 2 seconds for them to engage
