I have a Road King Standard with a Corbin Seat and movable backrest. 99% of my riding is to and from work, so I don't have much need for additional storage space. But there maybe those times when the wife and I take a weekend trip. I am thinking about a detachable luggage rack, but before I do, does anyone know of a large sissybar bag that will attach to my Corbin backrest without a luggage rack.
Look up T bag products. I've used them for about 10 years now. One of my friends loves the SAC bags too.
I currently have a 2005 ultra classic and I have the Decker Supreme and back seat bag for long trips. Most of the time I don't have to take anything from the hard bags in the motel. Clothing in the backset bag and computer and other electronic equipment in the decker supreme. I traveled that way on the 2005 HOG Possee run.
I have a Kuryakyn Full Dresser Bag that is use on my RK. I have the detachable luggage rack and the low detachable passenger backrest. The wife and I have been on several long trips and have had plenty of room.
The Full Dresser Bag has three large internal compartments, four smaller zippered compartments on the outside. 12 d-rings on the outsided to attach more goodies. I has two wheels on the bottom so it rolls nicely across a parking lot and through a hotel lobby. M&M Cycles is running a 25% off sale right now on all Kuryakyn accessories so the bag goes from $199 down to $149.
I have not used the bag without support under it because I already have the luggage rack. I have used a smaller, tombstone style bag without the rack and found that it sagged down and touched the rear fender if loaded with even a moderate ammount of weight.
Personal oppinion, get the detachable rack and mounting hardware. You will be happier and safer in the long run.
I've got the T-bag. It'll fit on either a rider or passenger backrest, you'll need the luggage rack for the passenger backrest. Lots of room, easy on & off, carry handle and straps so you can use it as a backpack. Lots of models to pick from. Go to Dennis Kirk or JPcycles.com.
