Saying "no" to evolution is silly. Water cooling is better (read as: more consistent and easier to manage) and is coming down the pike. No, HD will not offer the choice of air-cooled and water-cooled versions of the same bike.
But what's the rush to liquid cooled? Both Yamaha and Victory have 113 ci air cooled vtwins that are EPA compliant and have better performance numbers than a stock harley motor, even many tuned harley motors.
HD has plenty of room for improvement on the air cooled vtwin platform.
And why do we need more performance every year? I'm fine where I'm at. I'd like HD to work on making the bike get better gas mileage, produce less heat, and reduce its weight.
one friend showed at the house with yamaha whatever want-to-be (road star???) harley with major motor work done to it
(I will give him credit it is fast).
When he rode away I looked at my friend and his harley and shook my head and said it is still sounds like sh%t.
That is why the guy with the yamahabought a fat boy.
Why are all these people buying jap bikes and trying to compare them to a harely.
I do not understand.
If you want a jap bike buy a hyabusa and go 200 mph down the road.
I heard through the Grapvine there would be a mid year release of some sort of water-cooled bagger. They can't seem to get the regular models out right now so maybe it won't happen.
Or maybe the problems with the current baggers are related to that mid year water cooled one??????
I heard before the model year was released that the baggers were going to be in short supply for a while. I wouldn't be surprised to see a mid year water cooled bagger.
Aaw, ca mon now. Let's have a Road Glide Ultra first!!
They would have to fatten the VRodup. I'm not opposed to a VRod touring bike. They'd have to smooth it out though. I don't care what you say, those VRods vibrate. They do scream though. It would be better in an FL type frame. Bring that taller sport model back too. I think they lost some interest by discontinuing that.
But for now, a 103" 6 spd (epa bypassed) Ultra Road Glide.
Have ta sell the farm for that !!!
Oh come on. I have a friend that was baby sat by this woman who dated a guy that played softball and was in a coaches league with another guy who built model ships in a bottle and just so happens to have intimate knowledge while he was in school to work on HD's in in Milwaukee that the 09's will be water cooled. Just mind you he was sworn to secrecy so don't let this get out.
