Aaw, ca mon now. Let's have a Road Glide Ultra first!!
Wouldnt a water cooled road glide be called an AquaGlide?lol
Just wait for the water cooled baggers to come out. There will be a bazillion posts about bikes not getting warm enough, burning up starters because they cant tell the engine is running, unable to mod the engines as HD will stop making performance parts, instead of rocks in a can sound... fish in a fishbowl sound, ........

There are three factors that will determine the timing of the next generation Harley.
1.The new EPA (CARB) regulations will be in effect in 2010. Is the TC96 2010 compliant??? If it's not or if it can't be made 2010 compliant there will have to be some change by then.
2. The H-D bottom line. H-D will "ride" the air cooled v-twin as long as it can; The unanswered question being "Is it a Harley if it doesn't have a rumbling 45 degree air cooled v-twin?"
If Harley felt confident it could maintain the financial health/market position of the coporation with an alternate motor configuration it would have done it by now. Maximize profit based on market potential.
I believe there will be a new generation H-Dby 2010. However there are air cooled v-twin metrics that don't appear to be EPA challenged. Will it be water cooled or a modified air cooled v-twin.....can't wait to see. Just my .02
"However there are air cooled v-twin metrics that don't appear to be EPA challenged."
Anyone wanna enlighten us to "why" or if this is true?
I'm thinking it's the engine configuration, or, are the others having same problems?
The Yamaha/Star Stratoliner/Roadliner is a fine machine that runs normal temps, passes CARB and is air cooled. The issue isn't air/water cooling. The issue is too many people holding too tightly on to "legacy". Look how it's taken the V-Rod YEARS to catch on, yet it is technologically superior to every other Harley in every way. Air-cooling "traditionalists" are holding Harley back.
. . .and just so happens to have intimate knowledge while he was in school to work on HD's in in Milwaukee that the 09's will be water cooled. Just mind you he was sworn to secrecy so don't let this get out.

I looked around a little and couldn't find it (again?) but am pretty sure I'd seen or heard something "official" that the 96"³ engine is either already at 2010 or is capable of it.
