Hey bud I cut my stock windshield down also with a sabor saw. (New METAL BLADE)
for smoothness.
Tape it up real good and use a marker for your guide line. Make sure you
have the area where the saw is going to touch the windshield all covered.
I used a fine flat file to smooth it out. I have two buddies that
want theirs done now. I was a little nervous at first.
Just like the song (To The Point of No Return) Kansas.
Cut it down to 8 1/2 inches. I get a little more wind but I can see
much better. I'm 5ft 9-1/2 inches tall. If I ever order a new windshield
I will probably order a 9 inch for a good over all use.
I have the stock 4" a Kuryakan 6"&8" use the stock for short rides, 8" for the long hauls. I'm with whoever said "just take it off of you're going to a 2" there's a lot of buffeting with a 4" can't imagine what 2" would feel like. But hey, we all have different tastes...as long as you ride your ok with me.
I was cleaning my stock ultra windshield one day, took it off to let it soak in the tub with baby shampoo. that stuff works wonders. anyways, took the bike for a ride with no windshield, just around the block. there is a butt ton of wind comin at ya. Dont know how much diff 2" will make. The old lady says 2" more is a big diff. not sure what she meant by that.
I suppose i could make a fakie at 2" and see how she runs, and then pull the plug on mine if it works for me. Still like to see a picture. I know ther has to be someone who cut one short and took a picture!
..I'm thinking about doing the same..post some pics when your done. Who cares about wind..first bike with any kinda shield..mortorcycles are supposed to be wind in your face kinda rides. If I wanted "no wind" I'd take the truck.
Later
It will be a while, the bike won't be here until late November. If it comes in and it freezing *** cold out. I probably won't ride much this winter, but will cut first and ask questions later! I will post a pic if I remember and noone beats me to it.
