ugly ugly bike
Now for the real story. I have nary turned a wrench on my 03 other than regular maintenance and upgrades (of course), other than those damn fairing brackets! I didn't have to turn too many wrenches on my Evo. Much better power and realiability than the shovel, except that the base gaskets on those sucked pretty bad. As far as the old shovel goes, bring your toolbox along with you, along with an extra set of plugs, cause you're gonna need it sooner or later, probably sooner. Don't ask me how I know.
I did ride a Victory Vegas a couple of years back during an open house at a local dealer. It rode real nice, good power, and it did have some of that American rumble. Would I trade my Harley for it? Never. If money were no object, I would probably have a Victory in my garage, but never the Victory Vision. Can you say fugly?
Looked at a Vic once a few years ago when they first came out - seemed to have been designed by a cartoonist and machined with a chisel - didn't work for me.
BTW - '07 RK,not one single complaint, and been riding scoots since 1969.
Here's what one looked like before they decided it needed wheels...

anyway I agree with the comments above.
1) The Victory Vision will be a big flop. totally missed the market ( at least in this decade)
2) What touring "problems" are you talking about?
Harleys are Harleys - take them for what they are..But look around, there are alot of them on the road. The last three bikes are purchasedwhere Harleys.
Last year, keeping an open mind, I test road a Honda GoldWing.... I bought a Harley RoadGlide instead.
I think Harley has done a good job of striking the balance between, advancing technology and maintaning the basic fun of riding a motorcycle. The Goldwing was a really smooth ride. If I didn't onw a car, maybe a Goldwing would make sense for me. But I wanted a motorcycle. Something I could feel the road with while riding, get excited about, maybe even breakdown once in a while and get it back going again, makes for a great story.
If you think youraverage driving speed is going to be130 miles an hour, then buy a sport bike,a touring bike, any touring bike is probably not your best choice.

My hat's off to Victory for taking a shot. Like it or not, it's got many talking that otherwise wouldn't.
Some of these folks need to drink just a tad less koolaid and be a tad bit more open minded.
