Newbie here with two questions. I picked up my first HD (2007 RK) last month and amscheduled for my 1000 service. It hasSERT (generic download), SE A/C and V&H classic slip-ons. I am scheduled for dyno mapping at the service along with IDS installation. First questions is: I am thinking V&H true duals and using my classic slip-ons. If I change the exhaust after the dyno, should I have it remapped? My dealer charges 2 hrs for mapping which I think is reasonable. Second questions is: I seem to have a slight pull to the left at speed. I have to keep a very small amount of right countersteer pressure to maintain straight line travel. I set the cruise the other day and when I take my right hand off, I also have to maintain a very slight pull with my left hand to maintain straight line travel. I tried to take both hands off but the bike travelled left, not severe but still couldn't maintain straight travel without hand steering. I plan to ask the service department to check it out, but would appreciate any insight. Thanks for any input.
FWIW, we would suggest changing the exhaust prior to the dyno runs.
The freerer flowing exhaust will effect the engine's ability to flow air into and out of the combustion chamber, thus requiring modificiation to the fule that is being supplies to the engine.
I can set the CC on my 07 RKC and ride no-handed, no problem... Well except for my wife hitting me in the back of the helmet saying: "DON'T DO THAT!"...
Any change in the exhaust after tuning will make some change. It depends on how different the exhaust is. You should be able to tell by the "feel" if you need to retune.
All Harleys will have a very slight pull to the left due to weight balance of the bike. IE: primary on left side of the bike. If the pull is anything more than "very slight" Have them check it out. I to have to make very small adjustments by shifting my right leg out to maintain straight travel with out using hands.
If you can straighten out you path when your hands are off the grips by shifting your own weight, your bike is probably normal - HD's don't generally pull hard one way or the other. Make any exhaust changes before your dyno - you'll always wonder if it's right if you make a change afterwards and it'll drive you nutz!
