I have a 2006 Street Glide, fitted with the Harman/Kardon stereo system that skips regardless of a regular CD or one that I burned.
I have also downloaded the upgraded software from HD to show version 7.8.0 on my display. I was curious if other owners are experiencing any problems like mine. I have noticed that with two different CD's they have skipped on the 3rd track, but otherwise it will cut out and pick up further down the track.
My '06 Street Glide's CD player skipped like crazy one night while cruising down the highway doing about 80 mph. When I slowed down below 70 the problem went away. Also, it hasn't skipped since that night. Sounds like you have a warranty issue there.
I have an 06 ultra and it also started to skip. If you go to the Harley Davidson web site and go under the new radio section there is a download that you can burn to a cd. You can then put it into your cd player and it will perform an upgrade. If you want to you can also go to the dealer for them to do it.

Mine does the same thing. It does it all the time though, any time I get up around that speed it just skips like crazy. I finally got my other bike out of the shop so the SG is going in now.
On the 06 Ultra's make sure the speaker button is all of the way on (down towards you). If the light is not lit then you are on either CB or Intercom. The radio and CD player will play but you will get static and skipping noises (wonder how i found this out). Once the speaker button is on it eliminates all of those issues.
I have had the same problems with my 06 flhx, last week I noticed a dark spot on the inside of the display and whatever had shorted drained my battery. I took it to the dealer(after a jump -start)and they replaced the radio, with no explaination of what happened, seems fine now.
