08UC with rush slipons only and i have decel popping not a problem with me though and wife loves it. My f150 does the same thing with flowmaster. My lincoln is next. good luck.
Got the SG in February and already have 9500 miles. Dealer installed cycle shack slip ons before it left the showroom. At around 7500 miles I started hearing a few pops on deceleration and has progressively got worse. The dealer said it needed a download which they will charge $175.00, but wouldn't guarantee it would totally fix the problem. Why would the bike perform fine for 7500 and then begin acting up? I read how everyone adds the SERT or PCIII but for me this is not an option due to funds and other obligations. Is there anything I can try other than putting the original new stock pipes on?
... and they run lean as hell. Your new pipes only added to that. Put the stockers back on or pay for the download/PCIII, or just live with it.
I've replaced the plugs twice. The popping starts after the bikes gotten hot and it can get really bad with it pop, pop, pop etc. I just don't want to damage anything internally. Thanks for all the info. My *** is out of here and gone to see Van Halen tonight.
Well I went and installed the stock new pipes that were only on the bike when it was on the showroom floor. Lo & Behold the decel popping totally disappeared and the bike ran smoother than ever. I guess the Cycle Shack mufflers are too free flowing and will not function properly unless I upgrade to a fuel management system. I can definitely hear the stereo because it's so much quieter. I guess I leave it as is now because of funds and look to the future for upgrades.
The packing burns away inside the muffler body and allows less restriction after time/miles. This is the cause for decel popping after the fact. Cycle Shack mufflershave the standard glass packing and it will burn off fast. A good high quality muffler has a superior designed baffle to control noise over the matt/glass packing type. You get what you pay for. Don`t buy aftermarket accessories from the dealers. They rape you on everything. Look at Eastern Performance Cycle web site for good products at a good price.
