Kinda my point.
HD knows they screwed up in 07 with the drive train.
Now they come out with a after fix that they expect people to pay for.
when if they had designed it right in the first place the "fix" wouldn't be needed.
Just another finger job from the moco!!

Yep, my opinions exactly!!! Its like the bike should have been from the begining!
Vettedog72....Harley-Davidson Central in Grand Island, Nebraska. I have had them do most of my service work for several years now. Same owner since 1954...family operation. The owner is 78 and still works in the shop along with several other techs.
dang...that sucks. i was in GI about 2 months ago getting my 10 k service done. wish i would have known about the discount. down here in phoenix it is priced out of the catalog and then shop fees on top of that.
those guys are cool in the GI shop though. they still remembered my dad after 12 year of not riding.
When I made my appointment with the service manager a few days ago I stated that I understood the moco would pay for installation upto $100. He said he was not aware of that but would check recent paperwork received from moco. He came back to the phone and agreed. Today he showed me the document that lists the various parts that are included in this $100 off install promo. Its for real. Maybe some dealers don't tell customers and pocket moco's promo dollars..I don't know.

I'll be calling my dealing tomorrow. It will be interesting to see if they know anything about the rebate. I'll post my results.
If I can get it installed free, why should I do it?
Harley NorthShore in Slidell, LAis not aquainted with the upgrade of the IDS acconding to Robert, the Service Manager. I did not know about the rebate/discount for labor when I asked about the upgrade. This phone conversation was yesterday 10/4/07. I'm scheduled to have Rinehart true duals and the SERT installed Thursday 10/11/07 (along with the K&N stage 2 air filter).
I've been to Harley New Orleans but only for 1k and 5k checks (90 miles away from me); anybody used then for the IDS upgrade?Hasa reader usedANY dealer in SE LA for the IDS upgrade?
I keep hearing about this discount on labor for the install but have seen absolutely nothing offical. Anyone out there have anything more substantial or in writing. Labor charges really make this part just out of my range so if I could get that taken care of, I would flip a few bills. I really don't want to ask the stealer since I don't really trust them to give an honest answer.

We all have right to our opinions and their expression.
Mine is that the bike was 100% right from the beginning (mine was anyway, and it makes plenty of noises). This IDS doesn't fix anything, it merely makes the Harley more Goldwinglike. I'm still on the fence about getting one. On the one hand I'd like a little "smoother" operation in some areas/respects but don't want to lose the "unsmoothness" in other areas and fear it would disappear with the IDS. The noises don't bother me. I think they give the ride character/soul.
glens, the best word I can give you about the IDS is "refined". I didn't have any whining and it would only clatter when hot and lugging a little. It is still a Harley, the IDS may make it a little more like a wing but still not even close. Don't worry, it won't cause you to run down to the Honda shop and start looking. T.
