It is call a "Isolated Drive System" (IDS). Helps dampen the effective of the engine/transmission torque to the rear wheel. In effect soften the shock!
read your post last week and decided to visit Eastern Performance last Wednesday. Almost crapped on the price: 2.5 hours to install, plus parts - equal - $450.00
$365 at my dealer. Glad I did it. One thing it did was widen the usable power range. I can let the RPMs go lower and then just pull out of it without having to sift down. Great in the twisty stuff.

The "Elbow Grease" promotion is listed on the Dealers Web Site. They can print it out along with the form they have to sign and send in to MOCO. The promotion DOES list and covers the IDS Install. $100 dollars off of labor, there are numerous other items listed also. The Service Manager said he had not heard of it, but the Parts and sales manager knew all about it but they both stated most people do not even ask about it.
I had the IDS installed while they we replacing my rear tire. My 2007 Ultra did not have any clatter and was fairly quite even in 5th. After the install the bike rides smoother at all speeds and I have to listen to hear 5th.
The dealer (Harley World OKC) said I was the First IDS install that they had done.
The dealer in Corinth Texas is matching the Motor Company's $100 Elbow Grease until Nov. 15. As I understand it, the MoCos $100 covers installation and the dealers' $100 drops the price on the IDS to $205 plus tax. Sound like a fair deal.

GREAT Avitar picture! Even better deal from your dealer in Texas.

It cost me $365 at my dealer. Your deal is much more than fair. Go for it.
The IDS has made my bike much smoother at low RPMs. I'm also finding that 6th gear is much more usable. I can shift into 6th at 65mph and cruise from there up to 80 no problem.

Got a 08 FLHT, as you know it has the IDS. Heard that on the 08 they put some kind of rubber in the back wheel. I can feel the slack at times, no noise oh.
Still say the Baker F6F is a better fix .
