Had mine installed yesterday. No more ping and clatter, especially in 5th and 6th. Can shift to 5th and 6th about 10mph sooner than before the IDS. To me it was well worth the $200 IDS cost (Zanotti) and hour and a half labor cost.
The service manager is unaware of any $100 labor credit, but is going to contact the moco rep on monday to find out. I'm not holding my breath on that one.
just picked up my bike after ids install,,, all clattering is gone, whine seems not as loud in 5th gear. can cruise in 5th and 6th at 2000 rpm with no noise. ids good investment. i did get the 100.00 elbo grease taken off my labor bill, sarasota fl. dealer had paper from mo-co about that deal. still owed 50.00, but i can live with that. happy as a pig in a slop bucket....................................... later
Reference the IDS unit..........Each year starting October 1, HD has a promotional service rebate called Elbow Grease. Included in the promotion will be usually more than one accessory ie: wheels, IDS, etc that will qualify for a labor rebate or discount on the installation.
For the most part, IDS units can be installed by a HD dealer for the Elbow Grease promotional labor rebate amount of $100.
Zanotti HD sells this unit at just above cost and for I think the option BI200 will install the bearing for $10 or $15 then ship. Total with shipping depending on location is about $225.
I found that as of Oct. 1st dealers were not on board as yet with the yearly promotion and what was being included. They should be getting up to HD speed soon I hope.
Took mine in yesterday, 07 Ultra SE...replaced the starter about 3 weeks ago, and the starter is doing the same thing...so Service Mgr. will check with HD on Tuesday and see about what comes next.
While there I once again discussed the IDS and the Elbow Grease promo. He again said that he had not heard or read anything about it. I again gave him time line, and he said he had been checking thru Sept., but said he would check and advise if found something different.
Got back yesterday afternoon voice mail said he found it, so IDS will be installed with the rebate. Now, if I can just get this starter issue resolved.

Am I the only one the suspects this is more about dealer's pocketing the promo money than about dealers that honestly aren't aware? That's why you don't find it on HD website. Up to dealer to decide how they apply it. Bastards sell you a bike with problems, moco comes up with fix and promo to help (a little), and dealer wants to pocket even more of your money. Captialism; it's a great thing.
Why is this thing not applicable to earlier models? Like an 05 as someone asked..............I don't understand why it won't work!
I believe it's a belt size problem. Changed in '07.
Ok, forgive me for being slow, but couldn't you just change the belt to go with this?
I'm no expert but... you'd have to change primary sprocket along with IDS sprocket. And could be some clearance issues?? Keep watching forum and you'll probably find someonethat figures it out.
