Maybe we need to use some antiseize compound on them. T
How do you spell antisieze anyway?
What`s needed is a high quality torq`s bit. The K-Mart tools cause bigger problems than they are worth.
I use Snap-On tools (because I was a tech for 30 years) and never have problems with removing fastener like this. It`s when the cheap tool rounds off and damages the bolt that all the problems start..
Tip: If you don't have an impact driver.... before attempting toundo the screws, give each one a hard tap with a small pin punch, then use a decent quality T27 Torx driver. Works for me !
Well lets here it. What method worked. Did you destroy the cover/primary or just figure out how to do it without canabulism...........
Pics would be better than a narrator IMHO.......
I drilled the screw a bit and then jammed an ez out in there and was finally able to turn it out with some ancient tool my dad had, I was really starting to stress over it.
T27 tork bit.
Try using a screwdriver type driver handle. Rap it a couple times with a hammer as you twist to unscrew. Helps break the "set" of the screw from the hot / cold cycles.
You might try doing the same thing with a tight fitting allen wrench (you already stripped it). soetimes it will re-bite just enough to loosen it.
If not you will need to drill out center of screw and use an easy out extractor.
when you go to put it all back together, use a bit of anti sieze on the bolts. and don't just use your calibrated elbow to tighten them back up. use a torque wrench, next time, you'll be glad you did.
