OK, I ordered a Street Glide at the beginning of Oct. with profile laced wheels from the factory. Well the bike has come in and it has the regular wire spoke wheels. Now they want to credit me the difference between these wheels and the profile ( $150.00) The dealer says that the factory won't put any profile laced wheels on any touring bikes at this time, and they don't know why.
So what gives with this? Does anybody know? Thanks for any info!
I've seen this come up a couple of times with no difinitive answer. If it's due to a problem with them I'd like to know what to look out for. I have them on my 05 classic, 12k and no sign of trouble yet.
It's my understanding that the factory had a supply-demand problem with the wheels. They were too popular and the manufactuer of the wheels couldn't keep up. They will become available after a while when supply catches up.

Do you know if they are putting them on bikes other than the touring bikes? If so, then I would guess that it is a supply problem, and not a wheel problem.
Thanks for the info guys! My friend has them on a '05 Road Glide with 4000 miles with no problems so far. He was kind of worried about any potential problems with them. I figured if there was any problems with them, there probably would be some kind of recall. So hopefully it's just a supply issue. My dilemma now is how to get a set of these wheels and only pay the additional $450.00 for the upgrade. I know if I find some they will want full price and won't take mine in for credit, but I have to try. Thanks
I was in the same dilemna and found out it was supply/demand that forced them to pull the profile wheel option. I've heard that there are some dealers that have them in stock, so you may want to check around.
I have the profile laced wheels on my 06 RK Custom and have had no problems with them. I only have a little over 2,000 miles on my bike. I need to figure out how to clean them up good though.
