Difference of inner fairing shape on 2008

I need your collective wisdom to answer something my dealer doesn't have an answer for. I'm planning on painting the inner fairing on my 02 Ultra. I picked up a used inner fairing to have prepainted so I won't have any downtime. I studied the "new" fairing very carefully and it looks identical to the one on my bike. All the holes are in the same place, all the curves and shapes appear to match. I got a wild idea and checked the back for a part number and found 58 497-08A. I called the dealer and had him look it up to see if it shows what it fits. Turns out it fits all 2008 FL models (Electra and street glides). He says I need 58 497-96A which is for 97-07 FL. When I asked him what was different about the two he says "no idea, won't fit".

Any of you know what is different? Help?

One difference is that the '08 has an extra mounting hole on each side for mounting the new adjustable "Willie Wings". Other than that I don't know.

No hole for throttle cables on 08 since it is throttle by wire, but that should be an easy fix.

Thanks for your responses. Here's what a different dealer says. "The only differences are that the 08 will have a different bolt pattern for the side deflectors and no hole for the throttle cable - biggest difference is that the holes for the speedo and tach gauges are bigger".

Anyone ever heard of that? Anyway, looks like I have an inner fairing that fits an 08 FL - for sale.

The bolt pattern for the deflectors is the same except the '08 has an extra bolt hole at the top. Seceral guys ahve installed the new deflectors on the older fairings either by using only three bolts each or drilling another hole and using a bolt and nut for the top one.
