Can anyone give an opinion as to how these Supertrapp SE's w/true duals compare soundwise to stock and on the other end say V&H Ovals? Looking for a deeper mellower tone than Rush 2" A little loud IMO.
I can't give you a comparison to what you are asking, but I just replaced my Wild Pigs (1-1/2" baffels) with Supertrapp SE's on stock pipes. These are considerably quieter, but still have a nice tone.
I bought these mainly because I wanted a quieter pipe, but didn't want to loose the performance value. I pull a trailer and exhaust noise bounces back. At 70+ mph, it gets old pretty quick. With less noise from the ST's, along with the turndown endcaps, pulling the trailer long distance won't be as tiring. (Atlanta to KC-MO in two weeks with the trailer.)
I don't have the true duals, but the SupertrappsSEs sound awesome.
Not much louder than stock until you crank it and then they wake up and sing. Nice rounded mellow edge to the tone, no tinny metallic sound that I hear on my buddies bikes with other pipes that are louder.
Quality looking pipes too. I put the slash cuts on and faced the Supertrapp logo out so you can see it.
Love mine...the sound was just what I wanted. Not much louder than stock, as mentioned by the other guys, but much deeper and more powerful-sounding. I haven't heard any pipes on any bike that I like better. In terms of performance, I can't honestly say how much I can attribute the gains I got with my Stage 1 upgrades to the SE's, but there was a comparison done by one of the bike sites and the Supertrapp SE's ranked at or near the top in terms of torque and horsepower. You can probably find it with a search...
I have the same as oldhippie,, as for a touring bike, I feel they are a good choice,
you certinaly wouldnt wanna spend hours listening to loud BRAAAPPS
Nice improvement over stock
they look like stock, have SE on them, quiet through town, and ya could fool a LEO into thinkin they were stock! (maybe), that was my biggest issue,
cause the CLAMP DOWN is HERE!!!
By the way, THESE are the same EXACT Screamin Eagle SE's that were discontinued in 06
the "off road only version"
supertrapp made them for HD,,, thus why they are still called st SE's
also,, V&H make some of HD's other pipes
Absolutely love mine. One amenity on my bike that I just can't bring myself to change. Just the right decibels with the performance enhancement to boot![sm=smiley20.gif]

"The SE Series will fill a huge demand created in the market today by adding less than 3dB(SAE J1287) to the stock sound level while still providing a deep rich tone"
3dB difference is almost not noticeable to the average person.
Here's a few sound levels I just cut and pasted from a chart:
10 dB ABSOLUTE SILENCE, ATT-BELL LABORATORY "QUIET ROOM"
13 dB ORDINARY LIGHT BULB HUM
15 dB A PIN DROP FROM A HIEGHT OF 1 CENTIMETER AT A DISTANCE OF 1 METER
I've heard the discontinued-in-'06 mufflers and they're very comparable in sound level to my Rushes w/2" baffles. They were on an 88" TC, mine are on a 96" TC.
