Kind of goes back to the old saying, "If you got to ask the price, you can't afford it."

HD is not making the bike for the average buyer. It is a high-end bike for high-end customers. Kind of the same reason GM has Cadillac and Chevy. I'm sure there are a lot of Chevy drivers who think they have something as good as a Caddy. But the Caddy owner knows there is a difference ... the Chevy owner just wants to believe there isn't.

Now that I think about it, though. The argument about price is the same one metric riders have been using to justify buying a Honda or Kawasaki instead of a Harley. Interesting ... I wonder what the CVO owners think of that.

All that chrome has to be polished, not my cup of tea. I would rather be riding that polishing.

I really love the SE RG that came out last year, till I saw the CHEAP bag extensions Harley used. I cannot see putting all that money into a CVO then using some cheap a$$ plastic extensions instead of REAL extended bags. I see all the extra chrome dripping off of it,and the bigger motor then I think $34K for bags that are bassically wrapped with cheap plastic and painted. I would love to own one,but it would HAVE to have real extended bags, not fake.Just mu .02

I know this post is over 2 years old but as a friend of the Rossmeyer family, I must say that he was smart in this pricing. Yes it was 18k over retail but none of them actually sold for that much..that was just a starting price and they were in stock when most dealerships around the country didn't have any.He was selling them in the heart of the motorcycle world(Daytona) and some people who want a certain thing will pay a high price if its available. Maybe 55k was a little overkill but I witnessed several get sold during bike weeks over the last few years in the $45+ range there. it may look bad to those that can't afford it, but hey he didn't end up with all he did being a bad business man...RIP Bruce

Default I drank the koolaide

SteveO,

I agree totally.

I just looked at tricking out an Ultra Limited to get close to what I wanted, and I was only a few hundred below what the CVO-SE was.

Shopped and found a dealer that would sell me one for MSRP and bought it. (most dealers get $2K to $4K over MSRP)

No buyer's remorse yet.

Just retired the end of May. The wife and I are leaving next Saturday 7/14 and plan to get back home around the 17th of August. Headed to Sturgis, via the New England States and Canada.

Got a yen for some fresh lobster!

May not be what some people want, but it would work for me.

Eitherway the White Frost and silver is absolutely gorgeous.
I would agree in principal if the componets were stage Iv or III quality. You buy a SE or CVO and get flat top cast pistons when they should be using forged high compression ones, etc. How about a super high end crank and the right type of T bearings, etc.
