When I worked for GM, one of my jobs was an engine "repairman". I used to remove broken bolts from engines coming down the line all the time. Hints: When center punching the bolt "TAP" the center punch gently at first. If you hit it hard at first and it is off center , it's a pain to get it back centered. Make sure you use a SHARP bit that is the correct size. If you drill too small, the easy out you will have to use will be too small. You want the biggest easy out possible. If you are drilled on center then drill out the bolt until you get NEAR the threads...not into them.Do not force the drill..let it do the work.I used to use denatured alcohol while trying to remove the bolt. Don't ask me what it does but it works. Go easy when trying to back out the bolt. If it will only go so far then turn it back in and try again. Working it back and forth with the alcohol should do the trick. DO NOT BREAK THE EASY OUT. They are at least as hard as the drill bit an impossible to drill out.

If you can find a reverse-twist drill, you just might get lucky and spin the screw out while drilling and avoid having to use the easy-out.

I would HIGHLY recommend doing it the way kpb46,raftgyde, and a few others heresay- I worked as a mechanic all my life and this works, just take your time, and be careful - do it right the first time, 2nd time usually is fixing a bigger mess
