Thinking about buying my first HD...What are the Pros and Cons on the Road Glide? The good, the bad and so on.

Thanks!

With a few minor exceptions, it has everything an Ultra has except a CB, chrome doodads, and rails around everything. And you won't see 6 others just like it when you pull into a parking lot. Whether that's good or bad is your call.

The biggest adjustment with the RG is the frame-mounted fairing. The first time you make a slow turn, like in a parking lot, you will pucker up because even though you're turning, the fairing stays pointed straight ahead and it fools your brain into thinking you're still going straight. It takes all of 5 minutes to get used to.

The only con I have ever found was the rubber molding around the windshield. I fixed
that when the chrome trim came out. Other than that this will most likely be the only
HD model I will own.

Just got one,as I said in my introductory post to the Touring section of HDF: It's a rider's bike from front to back,it's handling ability is incredible.HD sells a lot more Electra Glides so those havemore available as far as aftermarket add ons as compared to the Road Glides...But that said I like the Road Glide a lot pretty much the way it comes right out of the packing crate.Very pleased with mine,I plan on riding it for many years.

The fairing on the Electra/Ultra Glides is wider across and sits closer to your body so it keeps wind and rain off you a little more effectively...a plus in crummy or cold weather, but the frame mounted fairing of the Road Glide contributes greatlyto it's outstanding handling qualities.

I consider the Road Glide a bit more of a "Sports Touring" bike, you can load it down like crazyif you want, add a tour pack etc,etc,etc...but the Electra/Ultra Glides seem more suited to fullly loaded touring and you can buy 'em all ready to be packed and stuffed.

I've had several Harley's, but the only model I have bought more than once is the RG.

It's safe to say, my next Harley will be my 3rd RG.

It's flat out the best value, feature for feature, of the HD Touring bikes. If you like the SG fender with the LED light and filler strips, you can add this to the RG for about $150 in parts.
