For what kind of bags? Leather? Harley sells a nice set for 65.00 already, the hard bags dont need them if you kep them locked.
That apparently is what many Harley owners thought, too, right before their bags disappeared and showed up on eBay. Apparently the hard bag factory mounting pins are easily removed with a screw driver from behind. Hence the comments above about people using bolts. Harley now also markets a "bolt" system for the hard bags to replace the pins.
Yep. Thankfully I haven't suffered that (yet).

Do you have the part # for that bolt system?

Me too. I've been scheming up a way for myself that won't mess up the convenience of the quick-disconnect. Have some ideas but would like to see what jeggsr has to offer.

He might be working on the patent!
Even if you had bolts and nuts to replace the quick twist pins you could still unscrew the bracket bolts ,at least on my bike.
Need some kind of covers to prevent access.

Jegssr, I'm also interested. I would rather be able to unlock mine, then remove them, than have to deal with wrenching...just for the bags...not that I mind wrenching once in a while.

I went to homedepot with the pin and matched a stainless button head bolts, wing nuts, and washers and changed out all 4 for about 10 bucks. Add a little more fun by filling button head with epoxy. Not theft proof but harder.

Well, one thing I have read about might help. Get 4 U bolts from home depot, and the appropiate nuts and washers. Drill some holes in the bottom of your bags, and push the U bolts up through the bottom of the bag, going around the bottom bag rail support, and attach the washers and nuts inside the bags. If it has a lid lock, even removing the rear mounting bracket, will not free the bags. They are still bolted on from underneath.Plus, if you ride with iced down beverages (), you have a drain spout.
