Hey guys, ordered a new mirage orange roadglide yesterday. I'am 6'2" and would like to install a shorter windshield. Whats the shortest windshield you can run without bad buffeting? The other thing that thing is I ordered color matched fairing lowers but you can't get them for the roadie with vents, anyone know why? I really like the vented lowers on my ultra, especially in summer, shame they are not available for the roadie. Thanks for any replies.
I have a 08 RG and the buffetting is not bad. I'm 51 10" so it may be different for you. It hits me a little at the top of my helmet. You'll read a lot of good things about Clearview Shields here. They make different heights (lower and higher) and are 1" wider on each side. Based on what I've read due to there shape they provide a better pocket and are thicker so you have less movement. Check out their website.
I believe the lowers are slightly different shaped, due to the lower fairing brackets.I know the box inserts are a bit smaller than those on the Ultras. There are aftermarket vents available for them.
Congrats on the new scoot! What is the projected delivery day?
I'm 6'4 and ride with a CLEARVIEW SMALL (1" shorter and 2" wider) and it seems to work alright for me - Have tried the Small HD and it was great till ya hit the interstate anything over 65MPH it just wasn't as much fun... But I have lowered the bike ft & rear and currently riding with a Corbin Dual Tour which also puts ya back a couple & lowers you a couple...
Lowers - The directionals\Fairing support are in the way for the vented type...
Thanks for the replies guys, I will most likely see the bike somtime in January. I ordered color matched chopped detachable tour pac and lowers. I'am also going to do black forks, engine guards and mirrors. I'am pretty stoked, never thought I would be a orange fan, but man those roadies look super hot in that color. I'am going to do a head quarters build for it after reading all the great reviews, especially Phil. I'am very interested in Phil's 113 project sounds like that would be right up my alley, will be following closely to see the results, can't wait.
