Default 08 UC grease leak

Noticed a lot of grease coming from the lower neck joint. It is enough to coat the forks with a fine shine and to get on the tank when riding. Dealer says no big deal, just wipe it off. Anyone had similar issues? Should I be worried about seal failure? I have just over 3K on the bike. [sm=confused06.gif]

if you just had the dealer do a 1000 mile service, they probably either used cheap grease(if so, pump good grease in and allow it to push all of the junk grease out) or they put too much grease in and it is spewwing out (wipe it down every couple of days for a week or so) or something in the front end is getting hot and melting the grease making it runny

It's normal, just wipe it down! Won't do it till the 1000 mile service is done however. You can expect to see grease from here on out collecting around the lower neck. Just be sure to check on it and keep it wiped down after a ride.. It will slow down afte a while and in cooler weather.

Noticed this on my 07 when doing the 1k service as well. The Harley special purpose grease is very light weight and using thier recommended procedure of filling the neck with grease until comes out will result in this problem. This crap will continue to run out and make a mess, my plan is to disassemble the strg. neck and clean out the grease and relube just the brgs. with a good quality lubricant. I also believe there is no need to fill the neck up with grease, this is not a high speed rolling element such as a wheel brg.
