2008 Electra Glide Standard
Well, I just ordered a new 2008 Electra Glide Standard in Pacific Blue Pearl with ABS brakes and cruise control. I bought a new '07 Fat Boy just a year ago and thought I'd be keeping it for a long time, but things didn't turn out that way. The Fat Boy was my first bike in nearly 30 years and when I bought it, I never dreamt I would be riding so much (over 7K this year), that my wife would be riding with me every weekend, or that we'd be planning a trip for next year that will take us from Pennsylvania to California and back, but that's where we're at.
So, as much as I love the Fat Boy, I feel a touring bike will better serve our future needs and plans and this is why it is being replaced with the FLHT.
The bad part now is the wait. The scheduled ship date from the York plant is December 14th, so I have around a 7 week wait before the new bike is in my garage. It's going to be a LONG month and a half!

I remember you from way back when you first started riding that Fat Boy.My Nightrain and Iused to ocassionally hang out in the Softail section.Distance etc,etc brought me to the touring world too...and I'm having a blast.I used to think these guys all rode big fat garbage trucks.
You're going to love your new bike-I like the clean look of the EG Standard and the idea that it's something you can build into exactly what you want piece by piece.

Ride Safe !
Thanks, Slash! I totally agree with you regarding the FLHT and this is what drew me to this model. I'm going with a 1st year, '65 Electra Glide theme with mine; fishtail exhaust tips, half moon floorboards, round mirrors, etc. The Standard's polished aluminum engine/tranny covers play into this theme as well.
