Can you remove/replace rear wheel on an 2005 UC without removing the mufflers?
On my old 2001 UC I just removed the lower bolts holding the rear shocks and lowered/raised the wheel until I could get the axle out without removing the mufflers.

The answer is NO.
Removing slip-ons will take 10 minutes.
Just take them off.
1ST... U JUST HAVE TO REMOVE ONEMUFFLER.... THE SIDE WHERE THE AXEL COMES OUT...NOT THE NUT SIDE ..
SOMETIMES REMOVING THE MUFFLER(ESPECIALLY IF ITS THE STOCK MUFFLER) IS VERY DIFFICULT.. IM DONE IT MANY TIMES. U HAVE TO BE CAREFUL PULLING THE MUFFLER AS U CAN CRACK THE WELD AT THE Y PIPE..MANY TIMES IVE LOOSENED THE MUFFLER CLAMP AND THE MUFFLER IS ON LIKE THE CLAMP IS STILL TIGHTENED... NO HAMMERS PLEASE !
I just installed the IDS on my 2007 Ultra. What i did, not wanting to remove the muffler, was Iraise the bike on my lift, strapped the bike down, so it doesn't shift. Than I put a bottle jack under the rear tire to support it. I removed both lower rear shock bolts, and removed left side saddle bag support. Then I raised the rear wheel up with the bottle jack to where the axle will slide out above the muffler. I thought this was easier than removing the muffler, I hate exhaust work.
Note, the Street Glide instructions for removing the rear wheel doesn't involve removing the muffler, so I basicly followed the Street Glide instructions after I removed the rear shock bolts and raise the wheel to the Street Glide position. Remember the Street Glide is lowered about 1".
