guess I need to win the lotto cuz I'm crazy about the Road Glide, Softail Custom, Heritage, Springer, Ultra, ............. dang, so many bikes, so little money
Well I started the Harley thing with a 04 EGS, then went to an 06 Ultra (rental) liked the 06 Ultra, but it had frame damage that the stealer didn't state. so I was set
to get an 07 Ultra, but sat on the 07 Streetglide and it just "fit me".. I kinda miss the trim and guards and all that looked like my dads 7 Harley's he had.. but the
SG, and it lower stance, longer dash (gives the bike a longer look) .
I have gotten it close to an Ultra but I still "fit the bike" and the's what's important..
I like the looks of the SG that's why I purchased one but I think the real point is thatthe MOCO is taking advantage of it's customers by giving you less for more $$$$'s.
They counted on the fact that welove the looks of the SGand will buy it at whatever price they dictate.
The reality is we are getting ripped when you compare part for part with the Classic. I think the SG should be priced at least $1000 less.
The RG is also a better buy dollar wise than the SG. In the end we pay for the style. What a home run for the MOCO. Gotta give their marketing department credit on this one!
OK kids...play nice or i'll take all of your keys away. Both bikes are cool. One's dressed to the nines with extra weight and more creature comforts, and the other is stripped down for those that wanna build a hotrod orlook like they have one. Don't think for a second, that Harley didn't see the stripped down Ultra or Classic out thereand come up with an idea to market it to the masses. When they did, they hit one out of the park as it'sbeen the #1 selling Harley in the cruiser class for a while now. That's why it's so damed expensive! And all the billet parts they stole from the CVO bikes is another reason. Just go and price out a set of Streamliner Boards or Pegs and you'll quickly see what I mean.
It just style vs the checkbook, and both have their mark on us poor fools who love to part withour money. I just added my SG receipts up yesterday and I already have over $40K into mine thus far. Yea that is in CDN dollars. Yikes.
Got a great deal on a Road King Custom, But had every intention of buying a SG, I like the Clean Fenders and bullet marker lights, the only things I would have added is a sundowner seat and passing lamps, which is what I had to do to my RK Custom. I wish I had a radio for my long rides to and from work. If the street Glide handdles like my King you will be in love.
I wonder why all of the other Street Glide owners didn't have this epiphany before they threw their money away!!
A guy we ride with tried making his EGC look like a street glide, looks like ****.Frontfender with all that crap on it, azz up in the air, grey motoretc etc. Guys jab him all the timeabout his Fake Glide.
What Slash said.. get the right bike for the riding you do, don't worry about what the one on the left and the one on the right cost, and buy what you want or you will be ever after wishing you did.
My only other advise is have some money left over for a Stage 1. and a bit of bling.

If you want the look of the SG, then buy the SG.
My two cents.
..."Fake-Glide????"...get a clue dude...Electra-Glide been around a lot longer than the "flavor-of-the-month' "Street-Glide"[sm=bustedsign.gif]...just cause you ride with some "poser' who don't appreciate his ride doesn't call for bashin a Harley Legend...
Listen up @sshat, it is apparentsentence structureis notone your strongest attributes. Maybe you should read the post again.Better yet,I'll clear it up for you. I didn't say this guy does not appreciate his ride, he does.Calling this guy a poser is not only unfair, it iscompletely unfounded. I said "guys jab him all the time about his Fake StreetGlide" meaning that there are a select few who bust ***** with him about it.Guess what, they have Street Glides. My apologies for omitting one word. Let's get a clue, no matter how youwant to try to wrap it, unless you dump tons of money into undressing your dresser, it will always look like a EGC.
My intention wasn't to bash your beloved legend. But, I don't necessarily care what what you think. It's a piece of metalwith chrome, nota frickinggod.
......@sshat...real class you are junior...you don't even know what friggin bike you're talkin about..."gray-motor"...I'll say it again..GET A CLUE!.."gray" motors come on Electra-Glide STANDARDS...not Classics, so while you feel free to trash a Classic("crap on the front fender"[:-]), it might help if you even knew what bike you're talkin about..the Street-Glide was born out of the Electra-Glide series...have some respect or I'll make ya go back to the Dealer and apologize...
I couldn't help but smile reading this thread.
After 30 plus years of riding, I too, was searching for Street Glide. That is, until, I did the I.B.T.F.T. toy run last week.
I looked around me and could spit at at least ten shiny new Street Glides. I like having the ability to easily pick out my scoot in a crowd.
I just put a deposit on a used Road King Custom!
