It ain't about having a sport lookin bike, Its about air shocks and comfort and what kind of riding you do and how old you are, and what you are trying to carry.
If we went on a 500 mile ride. I bet you would come home a lot tireder than my old butt.
You will be here one day. trust me, It took me from 64 till now but I love the EG.
The whole touring range of H-D bikes are pretty similar, but all feel, look, and handle a littledifferent. You gotta ride the ones you're interested in and then pick. They're all nice. I've riden dozens of bikes from a Honda 50 to my Ultra and liked them all. They are just different. The wind and the road looked the same. For the money you need to spend on a new bike, it is worth it to take your time and think about it. Make up your own mind. I really like my Ultra, especially when I rode in to work today through the fog and temp in the 30's. That's why I got it. I rode an EG Standard for a couple of days while my Ultra was in for service and it felt like a sport bike it seemed so much lighter, but I missed the feel of the Ultra. I also liked my Road King Classic. Study the bikes and go with your gut for what speaks to you. If you think too much, you probably won't get one at all, but that's not the point. Remember, if you have to explain it they won't understand (and you don't have to care).
I loked at Both also, I ended up with the Ultra, put a detachable tour pack bracket on, and rider backrest, quick detachable lower farings and I love the converatable look and have all the extras I could ever want for this Bike.
SG's are awesome looking, but cost allot more to add all the extras that you get with a EG or Ultra
I struggled with the decision because of the thinking that started this thread. You get more "stuff" on the EGC. So if that is how you measure "bang"... that's the way to go.
After thinking it through... for ME.... Bang was what I was going to enjoy more.
When I was 30 I could have bought a Cadilac but I bought a corvette instead... Same price. The caddy was bigger and had more "stuff". It was a really nice car.
But I wanted the look and style of the vette.
Same with the SG. I liked the look and style of it. It fit ME.
I consider the cost of things... but cost is 3rd or 4th down the list. Don't have the bucks to pay cash. So when I finance a vehicle I want to make sure it is something I won't mind paying for when the "newness" wears off. The SG does that for me.
How do you measure "BANG?"
As far as "price"....Unless you want atourpack(not a priority for most of the SG crowd),most of that stuff is pretty irrelevant ....
The Street Glide has it's own niche,----->Look in the HD parts catalog---For starters: It cost $250 to purchase the rear turn signal set that moves the license plate below the tail light like the Street Glide set-up.
Another couple of hundred bucks for the Street Glide's:Color Matched Filler Panels Between Bags & Rear Fender...and then there's theSG's Integrated Mirrors
I'm sure you have missed my point............
And I'm sure you missed mine.....
There's some whowould considera 300 Lb double jointed prostitute as "getting more for their money"....
WOW .... now there a visual that I am still trying to get out of my head!!! WOO 300# no less!![sm=happy046.gif]
