s/g stands alone from all the rest it has a mystique about if you look close you will see its unique and says custom/screaming eagle and of course street.stripped down classic i dont think so
My post has nothing to do with what you prefer or don't prefer. Simply that you get more for your money with the EGC. The EGC is a SG to a large degree but with more options at an $85.00 cost difference. We are only asking why?
That my frienddepends on what yout definition of "more for your money" is....
Maybe the answer's to be foundin looking at the Road Glide,it has none of the EGC"options" you listed: **Auxilary Lamps
**Tour Pack
**Front Fender Chrome
**Bag Rails
yetlike the SG,the RG is also close in price to the EGC,again you could ask why ?
I agree 100% If I were riding across the country with my wife the EG would be great, still dont like the look though, maybe in another 20 ears or so, now the road glide looks pretty cool, I know to each his own!! so the SG is one of H-D most popular bike going on 3 years now and its still the flavor of the month?
Why is the SG so expensive compared to the EGC? EGC is the same bike with more options for $85.00 additional. Yes I know, the SG is dropped via different shocks but it isn't like the EGC doesn't come with shocks.
The EGC has for another $85.00 over the SG
**Auxilary Lamps
**Tour Pack
**Front Fender Chrome
**Bag Rails
The question has nothing about taste and which bike you like better it has everything to do with the price between the bikes and what you get for your money.
As far as "price"....Unless you want atourpack(not a priority for most of the SG crowd),most of that stuff is pretty irrelevant ....
The Street Glide has it's own niche,----->Look in the HD parts catalog---For starters: It cost $250 to purchase the rear turn signal set that moves the license plate below the tail light like the Street Glide set-up.
Another couple of hundred bucks for the Street Glide's:Color Matched Filler Panels Between Bags & Rear Fender...and then there's theSG's Integrated Mirrors
you also have to include the gauges that the SG comes with.

We are beating this to death of course but thats what we do. I don't believe it is "more for your money" it's just different stuff and a different look. If you price out the streamliner boards, rear fender lights, billet turn signals, detachable tour pack mounts, antenna relo kit, short windshield, lower suspension, etc. etc. etc. Those are different and pricey to add if you like them enough to change them on the EG. Either way they are both great bikes and very comparable depending on what you like to look at. Obviously for me it was the SG, for some the RG (again similar price with different stuff), and still some the EG.
I have spent some money but feel I have the best of both worlds with the great look of the SG and the detachable tour pack for the long trips. As soon as I get home from the long trips though I can't wait to get that box off the back of my bike because I don't like the look as much. Or like in the case of Myrtle Beach Bike week I pull the tourpack off and put it in the hotel for the week.
So in the end the post kinda has to deal with "what you prefer or don't prefer." When I grow up I'm sure I will be making the other side of this argument and saying that the 2020 Ultra Classic (my next HD) is the only way to go

SMUNDORF gets it,best post of the thread..... I'm out of here.
I wonder why all of the other Street Glide owners didn't have this epiphany before they threw their money away!!
A guy we ride with tried making his EGC look like a street glide, looks like ****.Frontfender with all that crap on it, azz up in the air, grey motoretc etc. Guys jab him all the timeabout his Fake Glide.
If you want the look of the SG, then buy the SG.
My two cents.
..."Fake-Glide????"...get a clue dude...Electra-Glide been around a lot longer than the "flavor-of-the-month' "Street-Glide"[sm=bustedsign.gif]...just cause you ride with some "poser' who don't appreciate his ride doesn't call for bashin a Harley Legend...
Listen up @sshat, it is apparentsentence structureis notone your strongest attributes. Maybe you should read the post again.Better yet,I'll clear it up for you. I didn't say this guy does not appreciate his ride, he does.Calling this guy a poser is not only unfair, it iscompletely unfounded. I said "guys jab him all the time about his Fake StreetGlide" meaning that there are a select few who bust ***** with him about it.Guess what, they have Street Glides. My apologies for omitting one word. Let's get a clue, no matter how youwant to try to wrap it, unless you dump tons of money into undressing your dresser, it will always look like a EGC.
My intention wasn't to bash your beloved legend. But, I don't necessarily care what what you think. It's a piece of metalwith chrome, nota frickinggod.
......@sshat...real class you are junior...you don't even know what friggin bike you're talkin about..."gray-motor"...I'll say it again..GET A CLUE!.."gray" motors come on Electra-Glide STANDARDS...not Classics, so while you feel free to trash a Classic("crap on the front fender"[:-]), it might help if you even knew what bike you're talkin about..the Street-Glide was born out of the Electra-Glide series...have some respect or I'll make ya go back to the Dealer and apologize...
