Hey Guys.. I am looking at custom front fenders for when I do the wheel conversion.. There are two that I like and they look basically the same, The Paul Yaffee Thicky and Fat Baggers Wrap.. Any of you guys use one of these fenders? The Fat Baggers fender cost a little more, but you can get it pre-painted for ~$300 extra which would eliminate the trip to the paint shop.. What do you guys think?
I run the FBI front on my 21"... I had it painted for alot less than $300.. I do hear that FBI does a great job of matching HD paint..But it looks like your bike is black and that should be a no brainer for a local painterto match...
Hey thanks...You are running the composite fender right? Any reason you chose that over steel? The price sure is nicer, but so is the Yaffe steel fender at $299... Hmm..
On another subject, how hard was it to eliminate the right side caliper mounting tabs?
Yeah, I'm runnin' the composite, When I called FBI thats the one they suggested so I went with their recommendation...
I can;t hardly tell the two aprt from the pics... I don't think "baggernation" was around when I bought my fender or I would havelooked at the steel
for that price...
I bought a set of lowers already set-up for the single disc.. So the swap was easy, I then sold my chrome lowers to offset the cost...
I hear guy's just use chrome bolts tho too...
What is the difference between the Fat Bagger and the Yaffe Thicky? The Yaffe is $100 less for steel. If you can trust the measurements on the site, which I don't think you can, the FBI fender is 21" x 5.5" and the Yaffe is 29" x 5.75". The Yaffe adapter is about half the price too. Visually the Yaffe looks like it doesn't wrap (side to side) as much of the tire but that could be a visual issue with the pic.
xxx,
The FBI fender was my first choice but the Yaffe looks very close to the same. I sent them an e-mail asking for dimensions and pictures of it mounted on a bike. I will post their response.
I only hope that fender looks half as good on my bike as it does on yours......still one of my favorite bikes on the forum.
Here are the two fenders for comparison. Top is FBI, bottom is Yaffe. FBI appears to wrapside-to-side more....if that makes sense. They are really similar. FBI steel with bracket is about $170 more.
