Iron butt sends urgent signal tobrain and it's not thetime for pondering options. Whatever you did, it was right - ya kept it on 2. Skill and experience man and glad things worked for y'all.
Sounds like power induced high sidecaused bytemp loss of traction......scary, huh?
Did it first night on my new Road King at it made me pucker.....That was just a week or two ago.....Me and buddy wanted to catch dinner and a few beers that night.....He rode up on his shadow, so I put him on my Sporty and I got on my new RK.
After dinner and several beers we were taking the long way home and ended up at a red light behind a car full of teens.....He was to my left and me to his right in the same lane behind the car full of kids......No other traffic.....Just us sitting there at a light behind the only car on the road.
We see the opposing light turn yellow-he looks over at me and yells "Split'em", so I nail it and do a short burn till the King catches and veer to the right of the car ahead and he goes to their left....I'm still leaned to the left trying to get in front of the car when I nail second and the rear end chirps just a little but swings way out to the right!....It wasn't a loss of traction but that damned dreaded rear end steer I've been reading about. I almost high sided under power and it tried to buck me off.
I'm kinda glad I witnessed it, but still leery of it cause after that experience I can see how hard it will be to predict it.
Swest,
I was turning off Southwest Freeway onto West Airport.....
Thanks, I make that corner quite often myself and will definately watch it there from now on. That does seem like a place where oil or any other automotive fluids could be present not only from the dealership but from the numerous accidents there.
