Default Noise in new 95" build

Hi guys, I just did a 95 kit with 585G S&S cams, roller rockers SE pistons with 10-1/4 to 1 comp. Bassani power curve pipes, a powercommander and SE air cleaner. I had to grind the inside of the rocker cover to clear the rockers as they were holding the valves open which = no compression. I broke it in today and about 3800 RPM I can hear this horrible noise, sounds like the rods are going to fall out. With the clutch in it's fine. I can't tell if it something ratteling or what. Any one got an idea? Thanks " Terry "

Are you certain that you properly adjusted the pushrods and then allowed the lifters time to bleed down before rotating anything?

Also... the absolute worst noise I had & it sounded like a rod, was the compenstaor sprocket.

My money's on the pushrods. It's very easy to screw up their adjustment.

I'm feeling pretty dumb about now. It turns out to be a leak in the front exhaust gasket. As it got worse it really started ticking and when I goosed it I could see a puff come out the side next to the pipe. Thanks" Guy's "

Most excellent!

Those can really make a horrible sharp ticking kinda sound, before they really blow the gasket our.

Now go enjoy!

My buddy just put some true duals on his EGC and left one of the header bolts off. He was kickin the heat shield riding down the hiway thinking it was loose. We pulled on to git gas and he seem a header bolt was gone. We headed 95 miles to Cowboy in Beaumont to git one. He even got a spare.
So don't feel alone man.
