Does anyone know exactly why the HD kit includes a fender tip??? I want to change out the directional bar with something like the one in that kit as well as relocate my plate, but I don't want to lose my RKC fender tip. Will my fender tip still work?

John and BZ,
How are you lighting the plate? I don't need one more reason to get pulled over. My lead foot seems to get me in enough trouble!

The HD kit includes the new chrome fender tip because your plate will be coveringthe top1/2" of your old fender tip light.....Kury makes a relocation kit that includes a three row LED....its on their site in the new products area...it won't be available untill later this yr.

Hey RJ - I'm not lighting it currently. Not sure if this is my final solution or not. I have been toying with the idea of hanging the plate off the left side of the fender around the bottom of the saddle bag. I've seen some LED license plate bolts that should work as well as some lighted plate frames. Shouldn't be too hard to wire one of those options in.

Biggzed: I recently saw an EG with the license plate relocated using stainlesss sheet/aluminum sheet (?) that was bent a couple of times and bolted to the saddlebag support rail/rear fender bracket, and a chrome aftermarket license plate frame with discrete lighting incorporated in it. Don't have a picture of the actual piece, but here is a pic of my bike in July '05 (pre-Street Glide rear fender) with the licens plate relocated to the left saddlebag guard rails that is similar to what I saw regarding the plate's location (although the one I saw had no bag rails--very, very nice look IMO and it didn't look that difficult to fab:

Thanks for the pic Pingman. That looks nice. I was actually thinking of fabbing a bracket that used the two saddlebag support rail bolts and hang it off those. Since I don't have a pipe on the left side, it can hang a little lower. I agree, it shouldn't be too hard to make something work.

Biggzed: You got the attachment point right. The guy did a nice job of matching the angle of the saddlebag with the angle of the bracket hefabbed, the license plate bracket incorporated the light nicely, and the wiring for the light was well-concealed. Good luck with the project.
