The very first day we had our Ultra we went out for supper. Enjoying the ride home, I damn near panicked when I looked down and the entire dash seemed to be red. I thought it was a major idiot light coming on!
It is kind of neat, tho,how it changes over. Rolling from sunlight into a dim garage you can make it change.

Man, I thought I was loosing my mind pulling into my garage. Since I'm always looking forward not down, my peripheral vision was picking up some change in the radio screen but I never figured it out. Thanks for clearing that up.
HD used red because it's supposed to be easier on the eyes at night, not interfering with night vision. I never thought of it being too bright, but I don't look at it much at night.
Now if they could only change that RED light on the cruise control when the switch is on but it's not engaged. Even though I know it's there it still sometimes startles me to see what looks like an engine or oil warning light lite up on the dash.
