Default Has anyone ever done a 180?

I was looking at the 180 conversion for my Ultra from Hogpro. I mainly like the looks of it. Coming off of a Wing with the wide rubber, the rear on the Ultra just looks wimpy to me. I was just wondering if anyone has done this before and what may be the pros and cons to it. Didn't turn up anything on a search so I'm thinking there's gonna be alot of cons to this. Except for the price, lets hear what ya'll think.

Wide tires turn in slower. The more mis-matched your front/rear profile is, the worse your handling will be.

The engineers have a clue.

That is true on anything over a 190 or 200. Sport bikes typically have 180 / 190 rear tires. I personally ride a 2006 Street Glide with our 180 kit. 18 x 3.5 front with 140 and 18 x 5.5 rear with 180. It rides and handles better than it ever did with the stock 16's. If anyboby is in our area and wants to test this please drop by and ride my bike.

I have a 160 on my Indian and my buddy Rob's got an '07 Softail with the 200.. His bike also has a 21" front tire that is skinnier than the 18" tire on the front of mine.. It rides just as neutral and comfy through the corners as my Indian any day... Now 250 and 300 series rear tires are a whole different story requiring body English to make it through the turns and I'd never want to own one. I wouldn't think twice about putting a 180 / 200 on a bagger if the kit was well made and you could put good quality rubber on the rear wheel.

I like what I see from HogPro and FatBaggers.... Arlen Ness is supposed to come out with a 180 kit that is gonna cost a bit less than these two.. I'd give them a call and see what the timeframe is.

Thanks guys, I too have seen some really mismatched tires on the sportbikes. I'm sure that frame geometry has alot to do with it, but then I'm not talking about going that much away from stock.

The first thought that came to be regarding a 180 was a "Rockford"...

I too would like to put a 180 on the back of my Glide. I just do not want to change the fender, I like those kits, but I don't like the look of the wider fenders, there's got to be a way to make a 170 or 180 fit under the stock fender.
